Opinion – Orientalíssimo: It’s All True includes documentaries in Arabic and about the Middle East

The documentary festival It’s All True, which opens on March 31, includes at least five productions in Arabic or on the Middle East: “Potato”, “Tantura”, “Ali and His Miraculous Sheep”, “Virtual Voice” and ” Duke Ellington in Isfahan”. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the show will be held in a hybrid way this year – with exhibitions in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and on digital platforms. POTATO (2021)

TANTURA (2022)

ALI AND HIS MIRACLE SHEEP (2021)

The story of young Ali, who has to take his favorite sheep for sacrifice. The film takes place in Iraq and addresses the ills of his country.

VIRTUAL VOICE

This satire follows the life of Suzy doll, the director’s alter ego. The film criticizes society, in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

DUKE ELLINGTON IN ISFAHAN

Ehsan Khoshbakht
Documentary about Duke Ellington’s tour of the Middle East in 1963, dealing with the creation of one of the most beautiful classics in jazz.
