The French President Emmanuel Macron announced late Thursday night in Brussels that he would go to Egypt on April 7th and 8th for talks on The Arabic plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip.

“I will go to Egypt for an official visit on the 7th and 8th of April where a meeting will be dedicated to this issue,” The French president said after the EU summit in Brussels.

“The Gaza plan drawn up by the Arab states is an element we support”he also said.

Arabic Initiative aim was to be a counterweight to the plan of US President Donald Trumpproposed by the Gaza Strip to put under US control and to expel its inhabitants.

The plan drawn up by Egypt foresees the rebuilding of the Palestinian enclave, which has suffered a huge disaster after 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas, without displacing its 2.4 million inhabitants. It puts de facto on the sidelines of Hamas and provides for a return of the Palestinian Authority, expelled in 2007 from the Gaza Strip from the Palestinian Islamist movement.

It has, however, been rejected by Israel and criticized by the US government.

France is expected to co -chair in June with Saudi Arabia At a meeting under the auspices of the United Nations to resume the process that would lead to the solution of the two states.

This solution is categorically rejected by the Israeli Prime Minister’s government Benjamin Netanyahu.
