The secretariat informed yesterday via X that four corpses of missing were recovered and continued to be a fifth person. “Research and rescue teams continue their work,” he added.
Earlier yesterday there was three dead, two missing and five injured in stable condition.
According to the first data of the investigation on the bridge, there was an “excessive” load, the head of the government in the province of Wagia Marsela Ayinaga said.
The bridge collapsed as the Ecuador is going through the rainy season, which is severe.
About 20 people have lost their lives and 45 bridges have been damaged by floods and landslides caused by the rains, according to the Risk Management Secretariat.
