Talks with the US are no longer possible unless some things change, Foreign Minister Abbas Araki said today, according to Iranian state media, while Washington is waiting for her invitation to talk about a new nuclear deal.

Tehran received a letter from US President Donald Trump this month, who gave Iran two months to decide whether he wants to launch new negotiations, otherwise he will be strictest in the context of Trump’s “maximum pressure” campaign.

While senior leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected the offer for talks as misleading, Iran’s foreign minister said on Thursday that Tehran would soon respond to the threats and the opportunities of the letter.

Today, Arachi added that Iran is not opposed to “stubborn” talks but because of the lessons of history and experience, saying that Washington needs to adjust its policy before Tehran takes part in the talks.

In his first term, Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 agreement between Iran and the great powers that had restricted to Tehran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions.

“In my opinion, the 2015 agreement in its current form cannot revive. It would not be in our interest because our nuclear program has progressed significantly and we cannot return to previous circumstances, “Arakzi said.

“The same can be said about the sanctions of the other side. The 2015 nuclear agreement can again be a basis and model for negotiations. “
