The detention of Ekrem Imamoglu and his other four other associates was ordered early on Sunday morning by Constantinople’s judge.
A member of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Constantinople is expected to be appointed a new mayor since Erem Imamoglu has not been detained for terrorism, but only corruption, as ertnews.gr reports.
It is noted that otherwise, if it were guarded and for the category of terrorism, it should be appointed by the state.
It is recalled that the detention of Ekrem Imamoglu and his other four other associates was ordered by the Judge of Constantinople early on Sunday morning, a decision that is expected to trigger the already rapid climate in Turkey.
The detention concerns corruption charges, while for terrorism charges the judge decided not to be arrested. Imamoglu was accused of supporting the outlawed Kurdish Labor Party (PKK), which is considered by Turkey a terrorist organization. The support was made through a alleged alliance with Kurdish-Bobrela in the Municipal Elections of Constantinople.
His replacement in the Municipality of Constantinople is expected to be appointed by the Municipal Council.
