A tragedy without a precedent
The mentally ill co -pilot consciously caused the crash in the French Alps by dying 149 passengers. Coal of 150 people from 17 countries died in the crash of Germanwings aircraft, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, in the French Germans in March 24, 2015. ZEE, with 14 students, two students and two teachers.
Ten years later, the then head of the School of Ulrhich Wesel says he will never forget the moment he conveyed the sad news to the parents of the children who confined the fateful 4U9525 flight from a student exchange program in Barcelona. They had gathered in a high school class and waited. Hours before the channels had begun to broadcast footage from the wreckage of the fatal aircraft to the French Alps near Le Verne. “I will never forget the horror on their face,” the former school principal recalls.
Unimaginable cause of crash
The crash of the Germanwings aircraft on March 24, 2015 at 10.41am. It is one of the biggest disasters in European Air History. Not only because of the large number of victims, but also because of the unthinkable cause of crash. There is no doubt about the crash in Germany and France. The 27 -year -old mentally ill co -governor Andreas Lubic turned the aircraft consciously into the massif to put an end to his life by taking 149 souls with him. Lubic made sure to be left alone in the cockpit by locking out the aircraft ruler and manually reduced the flight height from 38,000 feet to the deadly 100 feet. “This action could only be intentional,” said the competent Prosecutor Bruce Robin in 2015.
In the apartment of Andreas Lubic in Düsseldorf, the law enforcement authorities found numerous evidence of the shaken mental health of the 27 -year -old co -pilot. He was a “unstable personality” and “mentally ill,” said prosecutor Robin. “Completely inappropriate to fly an aircraft.”
Who allowed a mentally ill pilot to fly?
For many relatives of victims many questions remain unanswered even today, a decade later. Who allowed the co -pilot to sit in the cockpit despite being mentally ill? Why none of his doctors sound alarm? Why did nothing ever come to light on the annual flight capacity exams? How is it possible to see, not to notice anything?
Like every year, this year several relatives or familiar victims were found at the scene of the tragedy in the French Alps. In the small town of Haltern in the Ruhr area relatives, teachers and former students deposited white roses on the commemorative plate with the names of the victims, while at 10:41 am. The bells were mourned. Like every year on March 24.
