European Union countries renewed 2 beams of European sanctions against Russia for another 6 months at the end of January and earlier in March
Ukraine’s withdrawal of Russian forces will be one of the main conditions for lifting or amending the European Union’s sanctions against Moscow, a European Commission spokesman said.
According to Reuters, European Union countries renewed the two bundles of European sanctions against Russia for another six months at the end of January and earlier in March. Any changes in sanctions require unanimity between the 27 countries.
“The ending of the unexpected and unjustified attack on Ukraine and the unconditional withdrawal of all Russian military forces from the whole territory of Ukraine will be one of the main conditions for the modification or removal of sanctions,” the Community spokesman said.
Russia announced yesterday that the United States has agreed to help lift a series of western sanctions and restrictions against food, fertilizers and shipping companies as a prerequisite for implementing Navigation Safety Agreement in the Black Sea.
Diplomats told Reuters that most of the Kremlin’s demands concern sanctions and restrictions that the European Union has imposed on Moscow.
