He points out that despite the fierce fighting, Ukrainian forces continue to repel Russian attempts to occupy the southern city of Mariupol.
Elsewhere in Ukraine, Russian troops have endured another day of limited progress, with most forces largely halted.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army claims that its forces have recaptured the city of Makarif, just 50 kilometers west of Kiev.
In a briefing provided by the general staff of the armed forces, officials said that the forces pushed the Russian troops out of the city.
“Due to the counterattack. The enemy is forced to retreat to unfavorable borders. “So during the day, thanks to the heroic actions of our defenders, the state flag of Ukraine was raised over the city of Makarif, the enemy was rejected.”
