“The framework agreed by Lebanon and Israel was not respected today by Israel, unilaterally, and without any information or evidence of the fact that triggered it.”
There has been no activity justifying Israel’s blows against Hezbollah in Lebanon on Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron said, adding that he would call US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nitanamin.
The Israeli Air Force bombed a building in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the first substantive blow to the Lebanese capital after a ceasefire in November with the mediation of France and the US and ended the war between Israel and Hezbollah.
“The framework agreed by Lebanon and Israel was not respected today by Israel, unilaterally, and without any information or evidence of the fact that triggered it,” Macron said.
Macron had a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aun in Paris to discuss financial reforms and efforts to stabilize Lebanese.
The French president added that he would call Trump “in the coming hours” and Netanyahu in the “next 48 hours” with the aim of “returning full observance of the truce”.
Under the terms of the November truce, Hezbollah had been called upon to lift its military forces from southern Lebanon, while Israeli forces had to be withdrawn and Lebanon would also develop a national army in the area.
Since then, Lebanon, Hezbollah, Israel, have been accustomed to a violation of the truce.
Joseph Aun: Army will broaden his control across the country
Lebanon is determined to develop his army and expand his control across the country in order to end a cycle of violence, Lebanese President Joseph Aun said on Friday after the Israeli blow to Beirut.
“We reject any attack on Lebanon or any suspicious, malicious attempt to return Lebanon to the cycle of violence,” Aun told a joint press conference with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
“What is happening increases our determination and commitment to develop our country and our army and expand our control to all our territories,” he added.
