Hamas a senior official said they approved a new proposal for a ceasefire, but made it clear that “the weapons of resistance” remain a “red line”.
While the Israeli army continues to bomb the Gaza Strip without stopping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded Hamas yesterday to “deposit his weapons”, promising that he would then be allowed to leave his leaders.
The fragile truce, which had been implemented on January 19, collapsed on March 18, when Israel resumed mass air bombings followed by landfills,
Both Hamas and Israel made it known yesterday that they received a new proposal for a truce from the mediators -Egypt, Qatar, USA -that predicts the ceasefire to return to the fire and to be released hostages that had been abducted at the 7th of October.
“As for Hamas in Gaza, the military pressure results in results we can see rifts appearing,” Mr Netanyahu said during a meeting of his cabinet yesterday.
“Hamas has to deposit the weapons. Its leaders (then) will be allowed to leave, “he insisted.
Yesterday’s senior Hamas executive, Halil al -Haya, said his movement approved a new proposal for a ceasefire presented by the mediators and called on Israel to accept it as well.
He made it clear, however, that “the weapons of resistance” remain a “red line”.
Israel, for its part, only confirmed that it has received the proposal, stressing that it would proceed with the submission of a submission, without further clarification.
The ceasefire agreement was secured by mediators after months of difficult indirect negotiations. Talks on the continuation of the agreement did not allow the gaps to be bridged between the warring sides.
Hamas’ raid on October 7, 2023, claimed the lives of 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to a countdown by the French Agency based on official data. Of the 251 people who had been abducted that day, 58 are still held in Gaza, but at least 34 of them have been declared dead by the Israeli army.
In retaliation, Israel vowed to destroy Hamas and launched a large -scale military operations in which at least 50,277 people have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip, most of them civilians, according to the Ministry of Health Ministry of Hamas.
