The Moldovan Foreign Ministry handed over a note to the Russian ambassador, Oleg Ozerov, which reports that three Russian embassy officials have been judged a personae non gratae.

He insisted that the decision of the country’s authorities was based on “clear evidence of activities in the Republic of Moldovan incompatible with the diplomatic regime”. The Russian side will respond to this decision, the Russian Foreign Ministry told Tass.

For his part, the Russian envoy described the Moldovan side accusations as “unfounded”. He urged Chisinau to “abstain from provocative speculations and to return to the realistic dialogue on all the issues of bilateral relations, which corresponds to the fundamental interests of the Moldovan and Russia people.”

Earlier, Alexandru Musteata, director of the Moldovan Security and Information Service, said in informing that the Russian embassy was alleged to have helped Alexander Nesterovsky, a legislator from the political block Victory, to escape justice. According to him, the day before the issuance of the Nesterovsky verdict, the opposition activist was allowed to enter the diplomatic mission facilities and the next day, he was transferred to the Hypernistria with a vehicle with diplomatic plates.
