Kyiv: ‘Rebellion’ in Russian unit – Hundreds of Russian soldiers refuse to fight

by

Two hundred and twenty Russian soldiers of a unit refuse to participate in the invasion of Ukraine according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

In its latest operational report, the Ukrainian ministry said 220 troops from one unit had refused to participate in the Kremlin “special operation.” Since the beginning of the invasion, 50 soldiers have been killed and 110 wounded in the unit, Kyiv said.

U.S. intelligence services have also reported that morale among Russian soldiers is running low.

They are left to the Russian forces just three more days with fuel, food and ammunition to wage war in Ukraine as their supply chains are damaged and supplies are depleted, the Ukrainian military said on Tuesday.

Allegations of major shortages were described as “reasonable” by Western officials, although they said they were unable to confirm the Ukrainian analysis.

The report of the General Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is said to be in line with Western evidence that the Russian advance had stopped, and that they had returned to the use of “indiscriminate and destructive” artillery attacks on civilians.

The death toll from 10,000 Russian troops in Ukraine is a “reasonable estimate,” a Western official told the BBC.

This report appeared temporarily in pro-government Russian news websitebefore finally being extinguished, with the Russians attributing the incident to hacker intervention.

The official added that this number of members could mean three or four times the number of wounded, ie 30 to 40 thousand Russian soldiers out of battle.

“It’s a very important loss for them Russian forcesHe commented, however, noting that even so Russia has “a lot of combat power” and could continue with a fierce war of attrition “for some time”.
