Six people were killed by the Hudson River in New York, where a Bell 206 helicopter fell on Thursday afternoon, broadcasting US television networks ABC and CBS citing sources from the local Police Department.

Eyewitnesses reported that the helicopter’s propeller detached before his fall on the river.

According to ABC, six people were on the fatal helicopter: the pilot, two adults and three children.

Sloping ships and smaller boats have rushed to the spot.

Passengers allegedly were tourists from Spain, members of the same family.

The search and rescue operation in the area continues, and the causes of the accident remain unclear.

In January 2009, an Airbus A320 of the US Airways was safely fed on the same river and the 155 occupants survived, in an event that remained in history as “Hudson’s miracle”.
