Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his commitment today to return to their home all the hostages held in the Gaza Strip in a message on the occasion of the Jewish Easter.

In a video on the occasion of Pesach, when the liberation of the Jewish people by the Egyptians celebrates the liberation of the Jewish people, Netanyahu pointed out that “in many families there will be empty chairs”.

It is estimated that Hamas’ hostages held in the Gaza Strip amount to 60, of which at least half are considered dead by the Israeli army.

“We are approaching the moment we can bring them back,” he said.

“Together we will bring back our hostages, together we will defeat our enemies, together we will support our injuries and bend our head in memory of the missing,” he said.

These statements by Netanyahu were made after US President Donald Trump noted yesterday during a meeting of his cabinet that there were progress in negotiations on the release of hostages.

Israeli media reported today that Egypt and Israel have exchanged proposals for a truce agreement in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages.

According to the Times of Israel, the Egyptian proposal provides for the return to Israel eight living hostages and 8 corpses in exchange for a 40 to 70 -day truce as well as the release of a large number of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

According to Kan’s state television network, Netanyahu had a meeting late last night to assess the situation with the Israeli negotiating team and security officials, “against the backdrop of the Egyptian plan”.
