Sweeping winds are expected to hit China, on the weekend, with authorities activating orange alarm and seeking strict restrictions on citizens not to circulate outdoors, especially if they weigh below 50kg.

Employees were invited to return homes, the lessons have been suspended and outdoor events were canceled as northern China is preparing for extreme winds that will reach 150 km/h.

The cold vortex moving southeast by Mongolia is heading to Beijing, Tianjin and other areas of the Hebay area from Friday to Sunday.

For the first time in a decade, Beijing issued an orange alarm for stormy winds – the second highest in a four -level weather warning system.

The strong winds sweeping from Mongolia are not unusual, especially this time of year. But the impending winds are expected to be stronger.

China

Temperatures in Beijing are expected to be reduced by 13 degrees Celsius within 24 hours

“This strong wind is extreme, lasts for a long time, affects a wide area and is extremely destructive,” the Beijing meteorological service said.

China measures wind speed on a scale that goes from level 1 to 17. A level 11 wind, according to China’s meteorological service, can cause “serious damage”, while a level 12 wind brings “extreme disaster”.

The winds this weekend are expected to range from 11 to 13 levels.

Several sporting events scheduled for the weekend have been suspended, including the world’s first semi -marathon, which will now take place on April 19th.

Parks and tourist attractions have been closed as authorities have told residents to avoid outdoor activities, while the construction work and train routes have been suspended.

Thousands of trees across the city have been reinforced or pruned to avoid falling.

Authorities have warned people to avoid entering mountains and forests, where the gusts are expected to be particularly strong.

Party on Social

The Chinese are closed in their homes, but they do not lose their humor which they express with their posts on social.

“This wind is so reasonable, it starts on Friday afternoon and ends on Sunday, without interrupting work on Monday,” one Weibo user said.

The hashtags about the strong winds and the warning that those who weigh less than 50 pounds could be seduced have become popular on Chinese social media. One Weibo user made fun of: “I eat so much all the time, just for this day.”

Beijing has also issued a warning of forest fires and has banned people from lighting fires outdoors.

The winds are expected to begin to fade on Sunday night.
