New Military Aid in Ukraine worth many billion launches to the contact team at its headquarters NATO in Brussels. Much of the weapons will come from Germany. At the start of the meeting this morning, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Kiev will receive 8 billion -worth of military assistance from Berlin by 2029, which is added to the € 7 billion support this year. The money will be spent, inter alia, on the supply of air defense equipment for Ukraine. The German minister assured that “our reliable support will continue”.
Specifically, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive four Iris-T air defense systems this year with 300 directed rockets, 300 unmanned recognition, 120 manpads for airline air defense, 25 armored Marder, 15 Leopard Tanks and 14 Leopard Tanks, 14 Leopard Tanks. From Bundesber reserves, Ukrainians have received 30-headed rockets for Patriot air defense systems in recent days, followed by further IRIS-T systems and soil surveillance radar.
Germany and Britain are now leading the contact team
A new development that emerges from the meeting in Brussels is the creation of a so -called alliance of “electromagnetic battle” possibilities, according to the Defense Ministry in Berlin. Together with ten partners, Germany supports Ukraine, among other things, in areas such as ensuring communications, recognition and interruption of enemy communications, as well as defense with a dress.
About 50 countries participate in the contact group for Ukraine (Ramstein). The meeting in Brussels will be video by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegshez and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski. After the US withdrawal from the leadership of the contact team, Germany and Great Britain, they took the gap.
Problematic German weapons on the battlefield?
On the sidelines of the meeting, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius took place in the German media reports on many German weapons that are considered inappropriate for use in the Ukraine war. For example, Ovidovolos 2000 is said to be particularly prone to damage and repairs to the Leopard battle chariot are complex and often impossible on the battlefield. “I was surprised when I was informed of the reports because we are in regular communication with our Ukrainian partners,” the defense minister said, saying he had not received such complaints. He added, however, that weapons systems can always be damaged or not operating after three years of battles. Boris Pistorius, however, announced that he would discuss the issue with his Ukrainian counterpart.
