The rise of inflation as an impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has particularly hit the poorer households in Germany: //www.skai.gr/tags/germania. Report by the German Federal Bank (Bundesbank) on household finances in 2023 shows that the net income of the poorest half of households decreased more than 20% between 2021 and 2023. The average income of German households increased by 2.2% to EUR 324,800. However, if the price change is not taken into account then the income decreased almost 11%.

According to Bundesbank, wealth in Germany remains unevenly distributed and compared to other European countries.

An indication that 10% of German households still hold over 60% of wealth. Only Austria has an even more unequal distribution in the comparison of 20 European countries.

Anecdotal reinforcement of property property

The poorest households put their money mainly on low -risk and low -risk investment. Like, for example, savings, running accounts and time deposits.

As the income rises, the more risky forms of investment increase, in shares or entries in companies that bring higher yields. In higher income, property ownership plays an increasingly stabilizing role.

Despite the poor reinforcement of property property in Germany (18% of households) and shares in mutual funds (24%) of such investments are still a minority. Inversely, savings accounts (67%) and life insurance (39%) move accordingly.

Debts 39%, Savings 83%

As part of the exhibition, households provided interviews with Bundesbank partners information on their assets: real estate, cars, valuable collections, jewelry, bank accounts, shares, life insurance. The answers show that 39% of households are over -indebted and that 83% save at least occasionally.

The German Central Bank wrote for the fifth time a report on the allocation of wealth. Interviews with 3,985 households took place between May 2023 and February 2024. Therefore, turmoil on international stock markets have not been taken into account as a result of US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy. Bundesbank’s next report is scheduled for 2026.
