Members of the World Health Organization (who) agreed the text of a legally binding treaty designed to better address future pandemics.

‘Historical Agreement’

According to the agreed terms, countries should ensure that pandemic -related medicines are available worldwide in a future epidemic.
Particular manufacturers should allocate 10% of their production in vaccines, therapeutic and diagnostic to WHO. Another 10% will then be provided at “affordable prices”.
The countries also approved the transfer of health technologies to poorer countries, provided there is a “mutual agreement”.
