Donald Trump’s government accuses New York Public Prosecutor Letitia James for fraudulent mortgage loans and has made a criminal referral to the Ministry of Justice seeking federal prosecution.

Federal housing funding officials (FHFA) claim that James falsified bank records and assets to obtain better loan agreements, a government official told the BBC.

James won a political case against Trump in 2023, accusing him of overestimating his real estate to get loans on favorable terms. Right now Trump appeals against the decision, as the BBC reports.

No charges have been brought against James. It is noted that her office has accused the Trump government.

“General prosecutor James focuses daily on the protection of New Yorkers, especially as this government is acting against the rule of law and the Constitution. It will not be intimidated by the bulls – no matter who they are, “a spokesman said in a statement.

Throughout his own after his departure from his duties in 2021, Trump repeatedly said that he believed that his political opponents were using the judicial system against him.

No charges have been reported, the White House confirmed, adding that more details would follow if the Justice Department will take action.

In a letter received by the US media to the US Public Prosecutor, Letithia James is accused of having a false building in New York as a four -unit structure instead of five to get a better loan deal. It is also argued that Letithia James claimed that a property in Norfolk, Virginia, was her main residence in 2023 – when she was the highest prosecutor of the state – to secure a lower interest rate for a loan. Housing loans for main houses usually have better terms.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Letithia James, a completely corrupt politician, will have to resign from her position as Attorney General of the New York State, immediately.”
