The US Department of Defense announced Friday the next withdrawal of about 1,000 soldiers of USA developed Syriaout of all the 2,000 acting in this country as part of the fight against jihadists.

The US has maintained a military presence in the Syrian territory for years, in the context of an international coalition that have formed a jihadist organization of Islamic State (IK). This organization crashed in 2019, but its cores remain active.

The US is going to reduce “US presence in Syria in fewer than a thousand soldiers in the coming months,” said Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesman, in a statement released.

This rearrangement of forces “reflects the important steps we have taken to wear out the operational capabilities” of the IK “in the region and worldwide,” he continued, referring to the “US success” in the battle against the organization.

Donald Trump, who returned to the US presidency on January 20th, has long been facing the US military presence in Syria – and the fall in December Bashar al -Assadreplaced by an alliance of Islamists, did not change the data for him.

Washington has also developed a few thousand special forces troops to support local forces and conduct separate US operations.

Following the declaration of victory over the IK in 2017 in Iraq and 2019 in Syria, there were details of the US army on the ground, mainly in its northeast sectors, to deal with the left -wing nuclei.
