The head of the Turkish Intelligence Service, Ibrahim Kalin, met today with Hamas’s leadership to discuss ways to send help to the Gaza Strip, where Israel resumed its military operations.

Kalin discussed the matter with Mohammad Darouis, the head of the Hamas Political Council, who runs Gaza and his accompaniment, was reported by the Turkish Anadolu agency, without specifying where this meeting took place. Other media reported that it was in Turkey.

The topic of the debate was the ways of transporting humanitarian aid, the initiatives to ensure a permanent ceasefire and the means by which Israeli plans to displace the population of Gaza could be canceled, added Anadolu, citing sources close to security services.

Kalin assured Darouss for Turkey’s steady support and said Ankara would strongly oppose any new attempt to have or attaching Palestinian territories.

After 18 months of war and blocking humanitarian aid from Israel since March 2, the United Nations estimates that the Gaza Strip is facing the most serious humanitarian crisis after the onset of conflicts in October 2023. Israel, for its part, insists that it will continue to block the entry of humanitarian aid because it considers that this is the only way to force Hamas to release the 58 hostages that still holds the enclave.
