THE Equator has been put into a ‘state of maximum alarm’ because of a alleged conspiracy against the president’s life Daniel NomboaRe -elected last Sunday, the Latin American authorities announced yesterday.

Noboa secured his stay in the second round of the presidential election last Sunday, but his opponent, the left -wing candidate of the Left Louisa Gonzalez, accuses him of committing “the most grotesque electoral fraud”.

According to a report by the Military Intelligence Service leaked this week, paid executors, who entered Ecuador from Mexico and other countries, plan to commit “terrorist acts” against the 37 -year -old head of state.

“We strongly condemn and reject any intention (to commit an attack) against the life of the President of the Republic, state authorities or public officials,” the Ecuadorian government said in a statement yesterday.

Mexico interrupted his diplomatic relations with Ecuador a year ago, after security forces invaded the Mexican embassy in Kito to arrest a former vice -president who had been given asylum.

Mexican Chairman Seinbaum expressed its support for Mrs Gonzalez, who demanded that the votes filed in the second round, which was won by Mr Nokopa with 55.6% of the votes during the official results.

Ecuador’s National Electoral Council and international observers ruled the possibility of committing fraud.
