A delegation of members of the French Parliament, mainly left -wing elected officials, complained yesterday that there was a “collective punishment” after the cancellation of its members’ passport visas two days before visiting the Israel and made a request to the president Emmanuel Macron to intervene.

“Invited by the French Consulate in Jerusalem, our missions have been allowing international cooperation and peace culture for 35 years. For the first time, two days before our departure, the Israeli authorities canceled our entrance visas and had approved them a month ago, “said 17 of the 27 members of the French national delegation in a statement.

“This cancellation of entry permits to Israel 48 hours before our departure is a major rupture of diplomatic relations with the French state and the democrats of the Republic who demands that the top authorities of our state undoubtedly take place,” they continue.

“For decades, we have been raising our voices and ask France to recognize the state of Palestine. France is finally getting ready to take the step of this recognition. It is a courageous act that honors its history and our vision of democracy, for freedom, equality and brotherhood, “add members of the French Parliament.

French President Macron recently announced that France can recognize the Palestinian state in June, on the occasion of an international meeting in which it will co -chair with Saudi Arabia in New York.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced this plan by indicating to Emmanuel Macron last week that the establishment of a Palestinian state would be “a huge reward for terrorism”, according to his services.
