Ukrainian forensic experts were unable to determine the cause of her death, but found signs of injuries from possible torture
Ukraine announced on Thursday that it recognized the journalist’s body Viktoria roshchynawho lost her life during her captivity in Russia.
The forensic examination revealed signs of torture and abuse.
Viktoria Roshchyna died at the age of 27 last September after months of captivity.
The journalist disappeared in August 2023 during her trip to Eastern Ukraine -controlled areas, where she was an envoy to the news media for which she worked, and her body was discovered among the corpses that Russia surrendered to Ukraine.
“In one of the corpses a label with the surname Roshchyna was found”The announcement said. “DNA tests showed that the chances of the corpse of Roshchyna belonged were over 99%, and additional exams were carried out with the help of French experts.”.
