Millions of voters in many parts of England are coming to the polls for the first major political showdown after the July 2024 general elections. Overall, the fate of 1,641 seats in 24 Municipal Councils are considered, while repetitive elections for the MPs and the MPs as well as Rankarinou Peterboro, northern Tansaid, Doncaster, Greater Lincolnsire and Hal and Eastern Yorkshire.

Local elections are held in a highly charged political climate. Following the sweeping victory of the workers under the leadership of Kir Starmer in the general elections last summer, the party is called upon to prove that it can maintain its momentum when conservatives are fighting for survival, trying to limit losses. Nigel Faraj’s reform UK, meanwhile, aspires to capitalize on popular discontent and seems to be the big winner of the election.

According to the latest polls, support for the two traditional large parties – hardworking and conservatives – is at historically low levels, with less than half voters declaring that they will vote. On the contrary, the reform UK, participating for the first time with candidates in almost every constituency, seems capable of provoking serious upheavals in many areas.

According to the Politico polls, Reform is in the first place at 25%, ahead of the workers (23%) and the conservatives who have now been established in third place with their percentage of 21%.

Although the elections do not cover the whole United Kingdom, they remain a crucial test, with all eyes on whether the reform will be able to translate its poll to electoral success. Liberal Democrats, for their part, hope for profits mainly in the south of England, while the Greens look forward to boosting their presence in urban areas.

The results are expected gradually within the next 48 hours.
