The anti -terrorist agency in Britain arrested five suspects for the preparation of terrorist action. More specifically five men, four of whom are Iranian nationals, were arrested on Saturday, with authorities referring to plans for “targeting a specific location”.

No more details were disclosed about the location or possible target.

According to the announcement, investigations are continuing in addresses in Manchester, London and Swindon.

The arrests were made in different parts of the country, namely: a 29 -year -old man was arrested in Swindon, a 46 -year -old in West London, a 29 -year -old in Stockport, a 40 -year -old in Rogdale and a man of unknown other details was arrested in Manchester.

Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Counter -Terrorism Service, said: “It is a rapidly evolving investigation and we work closely with those who are influenced to keep them informed. We are still in the early stages and we are considering various potential, including incentives and the likelihood of further risk to the public. “

Three more arrests in separate research

Police arrested three more Iranian nationals in London on Saturday as part of a separate anti -terrorist investigation.

The suspects were arrested under Article 27 of the 2023 National Security Act, which allows the police to arrest those who are suspected of “involvement in a threatening activity of foreign powers”.

All three men have been detained and investigations continue in their three addresses. “This investigation is not linked to the arrest of five people yesterday in the context of a separate operation by the Metropolitan Police to combat terrorism,” a statement said.
