This is the second meeting of the two leaders after the informal expanded meeting of Geneva, pending a return to Cyprus by UN Secretary -General Maria Achela Olgin Kuyarar.
Mr. Tatar arrived first and then President Christodoulides, accompanied by the Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelao Menelaou. The two leaders were welcomed by the Special Representative of the Secretary General in Cyprus and head of the UN peacekeeping power in Cyprus (PYNFICYP), Colin Stewart.
According to the CIP and the Citizen of Cyprus, today’s meeting is a continuation of the first quarter of the two leaders, held on April 2 (central photo).
They had then agreed to set up a Youth Technical Committee, to conduct discussions on the Greek Cypriot negotiator and a Turkish Cypriot special representative, to work on environmental and climate change initiatives, as well as their first cemetery restoration. They also asked their representatives to continue discussions on the transit points and the utilization of solar energy in the dead zone.
