Citizens’ participation so far in relation to previous national elections in Albania
THE Albania’s Central Election Agency (KQZ) announced the temporary elections in the elections until 14:00 noon. According to official data, out of the 2,276 electoral ballot boxes, the participation rate reached 29.53%.
Compared to the municipal elections two years ago, there is an increase of about 2.2 percentage points. However, this figure is lagging behind that of the general elections that had been held four years ago, where the participation until 14:00 had reached 35.62%.
The electoral process did not run everywhere smoothly. In the electoral Elbasan Districtand specifically at the polling station number 2447, the procedure was temporarily suspended. Police and prosecutors were notified of irregularities and rushed to the site for investigation. According to local sources, the parties involved have already begun to give their official deposits. The smooth continuation of the vote is expected after the necessary legal audits are completed.
A similar incident occurred at the 27/42 polling station in his municipality Librazhd. The electoral representatives temporarily interrupted the procedure when cases of voters were photographed photographing the ballot – a serious violation of the electoral code. Although the number of persons involved has not been officially announced, nor if legal measures have been taken, it is recalled that such acts shall result in strict criminal penalties.
The electoral process is expected to continue smoothly in the affected areas if the relevant checks are completed and the class is restored.
