One of the two men had developed relationships with opposition persons and organized meetings with political and military personalities
Hungarian security services have identified two Ukrainian spies, a government spokesman said on Tuesday as part of a series of mutual charges of espionage between Budapest and Kiev.
One of the two men had developed relationships with opposition persons and organized meetings with political and military personalities “to influence Hungary’s attitude over conflict in Ukraine“Government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said in a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
The post, which included statements by the head of the ruling party’s parliamentary group, Mate Kotsis, did not report when these activities took place, but noted that a ban on entry in 2024 had been imposed in this man.
The second man is alleged to seek military and energy information and is under criminal investigation of espionage, according to Kovacs.
The Ukrainian Foreign Spying Service did not respond immediately to a request for a comment by email.
