The US president Donald Trump today defended his government’s decision to prevent foreign students from writing to Harvarda measure that was described as illegal by the renowned university and was suspended by a judge.

“Because Harvard does not say that nearly 31% of its students come from foreign countries, and yet these countries, some of which are not friendly to the United States, do not pay anything for the education of their students, nor do they intend to do so,” Trump wrote on the Platform.

“We want to know who these foreign students are, a request is reasonable if we give Harvard billion dollars, but Harvard is not truly transparent,” he added, calling on the university to “stop asking” money from the federal government.

On Thursday, Interior Security Minister Christie Noem had announced the lifting of Harvard’s right to accept foreign students. But soon a judge suspended the measure, against which the University appealed early Friday morning to the Massachusetts federal court.

The Trump government accuses Harvard of refusing to oversee Washington the introduction of its students and the process of recruiting its teachers and accuses the university of being a stronghold of anti -Semitism, promoting overly progressive ideas of the Left and having a relations with the Left.

The US government had already abolished subsidies for the university more than two billion dollars, which led to the stopping of some research programs.

According to its website, Harvard, which ranks among the best universities in the world and has released 162 Nobel laureates, welcomes about 6,700 “international students” this year, 27% of all its students. These are students who charge tens of thousands of dollars a year for tuition.

Harvard is the wealthiest University in the United States, as it has a bequest that was estimated at $ 53.2 billion in 2024.
