Lviv: Masks for fear of chemical attack supplied after Russian triple missile strike

by

The war in Ukraine is raging with the Russians having hit the suburbs of Lviv earlier with three missiles.

The area, where there is a telecommunications tower, was covered by flames.

Three consecutive explosions were heard in the city and immediately thick smoke rose at a point near its center.

Black smoke covered Lviv and panic ensued with ambulance sirens sounding throughout the area.

An eyewitness described to SKAI’s camera the nightmarish moments he experienced immediately after the explosions.

“We heard the first explosion, the building shook and the doors opened. Two more explosions followed and we hid in a shelter under the house for a while. We saw from the windows the trees that were covered with smoke.

At the same time, a resident of the area recorded with his mobile phone the moment a rocket approached a target.

SKAI with the journalist Stavros Ioannidis and the cameraman Stergios Tsifoutis transfer the dramatic images from the blows of the Russian army.

Information speaks of victims.

The city of Lviv, in western Ukraine, was targeted by Russian bombardment this afternoon, injuring at least five people, regional governor Maxim Kozicki told the Telegram.

The inhabitants of the city were preparing for the blows of the Russian army. Local authorities say they are ready for any eventuality, even for battles in the city.

For this reason they have sealed all the windows of the shelters with sacks containing sand. At the same time, masks are supplied for fear of a chemical attack.

“Today, two strategically important infrastructures were damaged,” Regional Governor Maxim Kozicki said during a brief press conference, interrupted by sirens.

“One of them was a fuel depot in the city of Lviv, in a residential area, and the second is a military base, a factory that is also located in a residential area,” he said, adding that these areas were hit by two bombings each. .

“Five people in the first point needed medical attention,” he added, explaining that no one was killed and that a fire that broke out in the second point was extinguished.

“With today’s blows, the attackers want to say ‘good morning’ to President Biden, who is in Poland,” said Lviv Mayor Andriy Santovi.

The mayor of Lviv earlier posted a video on the Telegram, in which he is seen in a school, which is located, according to him, from the second place that was affected. “The windows are broken, but everyone is alive and that is the most important thing,” he said.

“The Russian missile strikes on the city of Lviv are an attempt to intimidate the Ukrainians, the diplomats of the democratic countries in the city,” the head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andriy Yermak, told the Telegram.
