Eleven children died yesterday Tuesday when it collapsed in a sector of installation where it was mitigated and collected in the state in the state Canton of northern Nigeria, police said.
Children, 4 to 9 years old, were studying in informal Islamic Hierodoxy and exiled sand that is used to make bricks, near the village of Yardoka, in the Kubau area.
“Eleven children are dead, seven more injured and hospitalized”said Mansir Hassan, a police spokesman in Cantuna.
“Our police officers, with the help of volunteers from the village, pulled the corpses of the collapsing victims,” added.
Eleven children were buried on the same day.
An investigation is being carried out to determine whether the victims were systematically working there, whether it was a case of illegal employment of minors, Mr Hassan said.
The informal Islamic hierarchs, known as Almatziri, abound in most of Muslim northern Nigeria. Poor families send them to them to teach the Koran.
They often live in precarious conditions, many praise or make trims to survive.
Attempts by the Authorities and Local Organizations to reform the traditional education system are in the vigorous resistance of religious leaders.
In February, 17 students, 10 to 16 years old, were killed and another 17 were seriously injured due to a fire in a hierarchy where they were studying internal in the neighboring state of Zamphara, according to police.
