Britain is moving additional military means, including fighter aircraft, in the Middle East to provide support throughout the region, Prime Minister Kir Starmer told reporters on Saturday as he traveled to the Seven (G7) team in Canada.

Iran and Israel have launched rockets and air strikes on either side on Saturday, a day after Israel carried out an air attack on its long enemy, killing commanders and scientists and bombing nuclear facilities.

“We are moving through the area, including fighters, and this is done for emergency support for the area,” Starmer said.

Britain already has fighter aircraft in the Middle East as part of an operation to tackle threats to Iraq and Syria.

Crews began preparations for development on Friday morning, when it became clear that the situation in the area was deteriorating, a prime minister spokesman said.

Further aircraft from British bases have already been developed, and additional fighters will be sent, the spokesman added.
