Britain has announced further sanctions against Russia today in relation to the war in Ukraine, which Prime Minister Kir Starmer will present as part of a coordinated movement of the Group of the Seven Group (G7).

The announcement posted on the government’s website states that the latest British sanctions targeted four people, six organizations and 20 ships, including tanks, shipping companies and suppliers in Russia, mainly electronics.

Starmer is expected to present details of the sanctions later today from the Seven team’s meeting in Canada.

He will say that he wants to “work with all our G7 partners to squeeze Russia’s energy revenue and reduce the funds he is able to channel into his illegal war,” according to preliminary excerpts from his statements released by his office.

Britain has already imposed penalties on more than 2,300 people, organizations and ships in the context of sanctions against Russia after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“We have to take advantage of the time to increase financial pressure and show President Putin (Vladimir) that it is in his interest – and Russia – to prove that he is seriously involved with peace,” Starmer is expected to say.
