The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, referred to the preparation of the EU options reaction document for the illegal actions of Turkey in the enclosed area of Famagusta, coming to the EU Foreign Affairs Council today in Brussels.
In particular, N. Christodoulidis stated the following: “I look forward to today’s meeting, which happens to coincide with the illegal proclamation of the pseudo-state that has been universally condemned by the international community and this is of particular importance, given the current aspirations of the Turkish side. Beyond that, during today’s meeting I expect to be informed about the progress, the progress of the preparation of the EU options document on Turkey’s illegal actions in the enclosed area of Famagusta. “On July 27, the 27 EU foreign ministers clearly and publicly stated the need for an EU response unless there is a reversal of Turkey’s illegal actions.”
Besides, regarding the instrumentalization of immigration from Belarus, N. Christodoulidis stated: “We are ready to take very specific decisions to address this instrumentalization, I repeat, of human suffering. Decisions that will horizontally affect all states that promote such approaches. And it is certainly not only Belarus that pursues such policies. In our case, in the case of Cyprus, almost every day Turkey tools human suffering. “So we are ready to discuss and take concrete decisions, I repeat, that will have horizontal effect.”
