The Metropolitan Police stated that they will impose 20 fines on people who attended a party during the lockdown in Downing Street and in Whitehall.
In January, an investigation was launched into 12 cases of breach of the coronavirus restrictions in 2020 and 2021.
A Met Police spokesman said: “The investigation into allegations of breach of COVID-19 in Whitehall and Downing Street has progressed to the point where the first fines will be imposed by the ACRO Criminal Record Bureau.”
“The ACRO Criminal Record Office will then be responsible for issuing the sentences.”
Police said that with further evidence to be evaluated “further references to ACRO could be made”.
It is recalled that officers asked about 100 Downing Street and Whitehall staff to complete questionnaires as part of the survey – under the name Operation Hillman.
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson received his own questionnaire on 11 February. He is said to have participated in 6 parties.
