Hundreds of thousands of Iranians filled the streets of Tehran on Saturday to honor the senior military commanders, nuclear scientists and citizens killed during Iran’s conflict with Israel.
A large number of senior Iranian officials participated in mass mourning in Tehran on Saturday for the dead, but the senior leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was absent.
Hameni, who has not appeared publicly since the start of Iran’s conflict with Israel, did not immediately issue a statement about the state funeral, which was held for 60 leading military officials, nuclear scientists and children killed in the 12 -day conflict.
Senior officials attended were Iranian President Massoud Pescian and Ali Samhani, a consultant to Hameni.
While the mourners dressed in black were shouting “death in Israel and America”, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Arakzi acknowledged that the loss of life was “harsh and painful”, but pledged that the nation would return to “new glory”. Arakchi said that ‘The pride of a nation is of the utmost importance’, And he added that “those who were buried on Saturday gave their blood, but did not give their honor.”
The brief and bloody conflict between Iran and Israel, which, as Israel said, aimed to prevent the development of nuclear weapons by Iran, had victims on both sides, and ended with a ceasefire with US mediation.
The mourners, most of whom were dressed in black, shouted anti-Israeline and anti-American slogans. The crowd also swore faith in Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Hameni, shouting: “Oh, noble leader, we are ready!” Many were waving flags and banners to honor those who had been killed. Iranian state -owned Iribs played patriotic music in video from the state ceremony, which showed mourners to reach out to reaching coffins dressed in Iran’s red, white and green.
Among the top military officials who were buried was Hossein Salamis, who had served as head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and was one of the most powerful men in Iran, Mohammed Baggeri, who had served as he Air Force of IRGC.
A high -ranking Iranian military and political official who was previously considered dead appeared on Saturday’s state funerals, according to photos published by the Iranian state media. Ali Samhani, a close assistant to Hameni, reported dead by Israel and the Iranian media after Israel’s unprecedented attacks on Iran on June 13. The Iranian media later reported that Samhani was still alive, publishing a message he addressed to Hameni, which he was saying: “I’m alive and ready to sacrifice.”
