Turkish police have arrested at least 30 people in the center of Constantinople today as they were trying to take part in the pride parade, which authorities banned in the context of repression for years of the LGBTKI community events, one opposition politician said.

A video of the Reuters news agency were in the possession of police officers clashing with a group of colorful flags in the city center before gathering them at one point and leading them to police van.

Kezbanos Konuktzu, a MP from the pro -Kurdish DEM party, told Reuters that at least 30 people were taken.

Police have not yet responded to a Reuters news agency request to comment on this.

Earlier, the office of the Governor of Constantinople found the course illegal and said that organizations that promote the event are also illegally operating.

Authorities have banned pride in Constantinople since 2015, citing public security concerns.

Despite bans, small groups of activists continue to celebrate the week of pride every year.
