It was preceded by the ruling of the Russian Supreme Court with which The Taliban were removed from the list of ‘terrorist organizations’a symbolic but important move.
The Taliban entered Kabul on August 15, 2021, after the collapse of the US -supported government. A few days later, the full departure of the US forces from Afghanistan followed. Since then, Russia has been promoting the normalization of its relations with the new government, which it considers a possible financial partner.
The Taliban has not been recognized as a legal government of Afghanistan at present by any country, mainly due to the violation of women’s rights.
