Australian police announced yesterday that it is looking for a suspect for attempted arson in a Melbourne synagogue while about 20 people were in the building.

As the ABC state broadcasting reports, around 8pm (local time) a man threw a flammable liquid at the entrance of the Jewish synagogue in East Melbourne and caused a fire. “There were about 20 people in the synagogue at that time”Police said, adding that attendees had abandoned the building from a danger exit.

A firefighter who extinguished the fire, which caused a limited land was rushed to the ground. No injuries were reported.

In the police statement it is emphasized that “There is no place in our society for anti -Semitic or motivated by hatred.”

This is the second incendiary attack on a Melbourne synagogue after last December in the suburb Throttle. In recent years there have been several anti -Semitic attacks in Australia, where houses, schools, synagogues and vehicles have been targeted by vandals and arsonists.
