After yesterday’s, heavy rainfall in Milan, bad weather hit Florence, Turin, Genoa, and the wider Naples area.

Firefighters and civil protection were mobilized to help residents living in ground floor and could not be removed. In Milan, two workers were injured while trying to remove trunk and tree branches that fell to the streets due to strong winds. Firefighters’ operations in the Italian co -host exceeded 500 and within an hour, it was raining – usually – in fifteen days.

Earlier, traffic was restored on the railway line connecting Milan with Bologna where, last night, a train was struck by lightning. None of the passengers were injured. Outside Venice, the police rescued a swimmer who, despite the warning of the authorities to worsen the weather, had decided to go to the sea for a swim and could not return to the coast.

Italy looks divided into two: in many areas of the South, the heat continues to suffer residents, with drought problems. On the contrary, in many central and northern areas the hail that has fallen in the last few hours has caused great damage, mainly in vineyards.

According to meteorologists’ forecasts, new, heavy rainfall in Genoa are expected tonight and tomorrow’s downpour in 14 of the country’s 20 regions.
