Three days before the vote on a censure proposal against the European Commission, Ursula von der Laien today denounced the “old extremist recipes” and tried to unite the “pro -European” majority, despite tensions in the European Parliament.

The president of the Commission appeared very militant and raised the tones against the far -right MEPs who had this initiative, calling them “antibollators“And”Putin’s admirers

Speaking to the European Parliament plenary, von der Laien called “all pro -European and pro -democratic forces” to repel this motion of censure in the vote on Thursday afternoon.

The initiative for the motion of censure was Romanian, a far -right MEP Georgis Pipea who accuses von der Laien for a “lack of transparency” in the Pfizergate scandal. The chairman of the Commission has never published the messages he had exchanged with Pfizer Chairman/CEO Albert Bourla during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the Commission was negotiating the vaccine market from that company.

Many associations and persons opposed to the vaccines had appealed against the Commission on this issue, while the US newspaper New York Times called for without access to these messages.

Pipea also claims that Brussels “intervened” in the Romanian presidential election, won by pro -European candidate Nicusor Dan last May. The Romanian MEP generally accuses the Commission of “abuse of power” and of “ignoring the European Parliament”, arguing that decisions are taken by von der Laien.

Although Pipea is expected to be supported by far -right MEPs, such as Frenchman Zordan Bardelas, his attempt to overthrow von der Laien appears in advance. Even the political team to which it belongs, the ECR, has taken distances, as it is also involved by Italian MEPs of the George Melonian party who appear more different against von der Layen.

The People’s Party (EPP), the largest political group in the European Parliament, appears united around the president, coming from his ranks. His leader, Manfred Weber, spoke of “Putin’s puppets in the European Parliament” who “are trying to undermine European unity and overthrow the committee, at this time of global upheavals and the economic crisis”.

The Social Democrats and the Centers will also not vote for the motion of censure, although they criticize von der Layen and EPP for his “cooperation” with the ECR. “Do you want to rule with those who want to destroy Europe or those who fight daily to build it?” said the head of the Social Democrats, Irace Garcia Perez, addressing von der Layen.

Renew President Valerie Hayer also attacked the right party: “Who are your allies in this parliament?” questioned.
