Texas “counts its wounds” as the report of the deadly floods is becoming increasingly heavier with seven additional deaths confirmed in recent hours, raising the total number of victims to 91.
According to the latest data released during a press conference in Kerville, Larry Litha County Serifis explained that there were at least 27 children among the dead, while 15 bodies still remain unknown.
The press conference was also attended by Senator Ted Cruz and Kerville City Councilor Dalton Rice.
Cruise said it is not time to search for political responsibility, pointing out the charges against President Donald Trump, of natural disasters such as floods.
He stressed that “Texas mourns”, inviting citizens these hours to return to their homes and embrace their children.
The US president “has been on fire” for cuts in the National Meteorological Service, which are linked to Elon Musk’s initiatives around Doge.
However, it is not clear whether these cuts have really affected the operation of the service.
For his part, City Councilor Dalton Rice described the phenomenon as “unprecedented” and appealed to volunteers to allow official authorities to perform their work without interference.
At the same time, he underlined the need to avoid panic or excessive prevention, commenting that premature or excessive warnings can lead to inactivity in future situations.
