The Turkish interior ministry has ceased to the mayor of Antalya Muchitin Botschek, who belongs to the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and was arrested on Saturday, along with two other Chp mayors.

The ministry announced late Monday, Monday, via X that Bochek was ceased due to his arrest in an ongoing corruption investigation.

“Don’t worry about me. I stand tall like the trees of the Taurus mountains standing upright against the wind and I wait for the moment I am free, “Bochek wrote in a post on X.

The CHP, which is accepting increasing pressure from the judges, now has prisoners of its 15 mayors, including the popular mayor of Constantinople and a former candidate for the presidency of Ekrem Imamoglu, who has also been paused by his office.

The opposition believes that these arrests have political incentives.

The CHP has emerged as the strongest party in last year’s local elections, which was considered a accusation to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkey’s judiciary has long been criticized for bias and that it is used to target opposition policies. The government denies it and insists that justice acts independently.
