Withdrawal of Russian forces for rearrangement and resupply

Russian units that have suffered heavy losses have been forced to return in Belarus and Russia for redeployment and resupply, the British Ministry of Defense said in a morning briefing, confirming relevant reports yesterday.

As it is noted, this activity intensifies the pressure on the already exhausted logistical support of the Russians and shows the difficulties they face in the rearrangement of their forces in advanced positions on Ukrainian territory.

The British ministry, however, reiterates that it is possible the Russians make up for the reduced ground maneuvering capacity with massive artillery fire and missile strikes.

It is also stressed that the Russian statement on concentration in attack in Donetsk and Lugansk it is rather “an indirect admission (of Russia) that it is struggling to maintain more than one major axis of progress.”

In the nightly news, the British Ministry of Defense estimated that the repeated obstacles faced by the Russians and the successful Ukrainian counterattacks mean that “almost certainly” the Russian attack has failed in the siege of Kiev.

Russia’s statements about reducing activity around Kyiv and reports of the withdrawal of some Russian units from these areas may indicate Russia’s acceptance that it has lost the initiative in the region, the British media added.

He also said it was highly likely that Russia would seek to deploy troops from northern Ukraine to the east to step up attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk.
