Two people were killed in an incident with shots in the church of his Baptist KettleThe perpetrator of the attack is also dead, said state governor Andy Besir.

Many people, including a Kentucky police officer, were injured in a series of shots around Lexington, according to a post by the Governor and the State Police on the X platform.

The state police announced earlier that the only suspect for the incident is dead and the police officer is receiving medical care.

One of the shots was reported to the Richmond Road Baptist Church church and rescuers are on the spot to give first aid to many victims, police said.

The Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper writes that a Kentucky state police officer was shot on Sunday morning at Blue Grass Airport in County. The suspect then fled to the church of the Baptists on Richmond Street, about 27 kilometers away, where many people were on fire and injured, Herald-Leader added.

Kentaki State Police and the Lexington Police Department arrested the suspect in the church, the state police said on the X platform.

“Please pray for all those affected by these irrational acts of violence,” said Governor Andy Besir.

The Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State police did not respond to Reuters requests for commentary.

Blue Grass Airport in a post on the X platform reported that an investigation by law enforcement authorities affecting part of an airport road, but that all airport flights and functions continue normally.
