The European Union today expressed “concern” over clashes in Syria and called on “all sides” to protect civilians “indiscriminately”.

In a statement, the EU also called on “respecting” Syrian sovereignty, “against the proliferation of Israeli plates in Syrian territory”.

For his part, Washington’s ambassador to Turkey, who is also a US expert on Syria, today called on a “step back” and negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in Syria’s Syrian city and condemned violence against civilians.

According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Israeli air strikes in Damascus -targeted by the Syrian Armed Forces General Staff and areas around it -are intended to undermine Syria’s efforts to establish peace and security.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also said that Syria has a historical opportunity to live in peace and integrate into the international community after overthrowing Bashar al -Assad in December.
