Russia has strengthened electronic warfare systems near the border with Estonia, according to Interior Minister Igor Taro at a press conference in Tallinn on Thursday.
As he said, the Russian army has transferred additional equipment to interference in the area around the city of Kingsep, about 20 kilometers from the Estonian border.
This equipment, which has also been used on the battlefield in Ukraine to disrupt drones navigation signals, also causes serious interference with the global GPS location system, which is used by commercial aircraft and ships.
Estonia and its neighboring countries have accused Russia of increasing GPS interference incidents in the Baltic region, where tensions have been aggravated after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Estonia, a member of the Eastern Wing of NATO, remains a steady supporter of Kiev and is re -equipped rapidly to prevent possible future aggressive actions from Moscow.
According to Taro, Estonia’s Internal Security Service is in contact with the Russian army on the issue.
