Ukraine has received confirmation from partners that it would be funded by three Patriot anti -aircraft defense systems, while discussions are underway to finance seven more, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Thursday.

“I received official confirmation from Germany for two systems and from Norway for one. We are currently working with our Dutch partners, “he told reporters.

US President Donald Trump announced earlier this month that billions of dollars in US weapons will be sent to Ukraine, including Patriot missiles. Negotiations followed about which partners can contribute to the scheme for the weapon market, a process that will determine the range of support that Ukraine will receive.

Patriot systems have been effectively proven to destroy Russian ballistic missiles targeting Ukrainian cities.

Russia has intensified air strikes across the country this summer, forcing Ukraine to adapt to new tactics, including the construction of defense drones.

Zelenski said production has begun and that the “immediate cost” of this effort was $ 6 billion.

In addition to supplying anti -aircraft defense systems, Ukraine has to fill a $ 40 billion financial gap for next year, Zelenski added, according to his office.

In addition, another $ 25 billion will be required to produce rockets, drones and electronic warfare systems, he added.

These systems are critical for hacking the numerically upper Russian force that runs east of Ukraine and along a line of over 1,000 kilometers.

“They have more human resources, more pressure, stronger mobilization,” Zelenski said, but denied that they have made significant progress.

Kiev is also looking for additional funding for the payment of its soldiers’ salaries.

“In the past, Europeans refused to finance the salaries of our military personnel, providing only weapons,” he noted.

“But it turns out that our soldiers themselves can be the weapon that protects everyone.”
