The fire department staff is put in general alert where an extreme risk of fire is expected in their area of responsibility. (Risk Category 5). Also partially alert is the personnel of the Fire Department who is expected to be a very high risk of fire (Risk Class 4) in their area of responsibility in accordance with the fire risk prediction map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate and Civil Crisis.

Furthermore, as the Fire Department points out in its announcement, the risk of forest fires will be extreme in many parts of the country, as there will be extremely favorable conditions for their manifestation.

In addition, air surveillance patrols continue, as well as patrols by firefighters, police and military forces.

At the same time, in these areas the Policy Protection Plan to address risks due to forest fires, according to which, among other things, the implementation of the preventive prohibition of vehicles and the stay of excursions in national parks, forests and “vulnerable” areas.

At the same time the Fire Brigade appeals to citizens:

1. Be very careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as

i. the burning of dry grass and branches or cleaning residues,

ii. the use of machinery causing sparks such as rods, welding devices,

iii. the use of outdoor barbecue,

iv. bee smoking,

v. The throwing of lit cigarettes, etc.

2. Watch the information on the prevention of forest fires available on the website and on the official Fire Brigade accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

3. In the event of a fire, they will immediately alert the Fire Service to the 199 call number 199.

It is recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the firefighting period.

Fire Brigade: 48 Agrotassian fires in the last 24 hours

The agrarian fires that occurred in the last 24 hours across the country were 48. Of these, as it became known by the Fire Brigade, 39 were addressed immediately while the Fire Brigades still face 9.
